What is personal liability insurance and do I have it?

Personal liability insurance protects your assets if you injure another person or damage someone else's property. It's also known as third-party insurance because it protects you if a third party files a claim against you. Personal liability insurance can be purchased as part of a package policy (such as a homeowners or automobile insurance policy) or as a separate policy (such as a personal umbrella liability policy).  Continue reading Liability Insurance.

"Friday Funnies" - Our Yearly Dementia Test

It's that time of year for us to take our annual senior citizen test.  Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles.   As we grow older, it's important to keep mentally alert.  If you don't use it, you lose it! Below is a very private way to gauge how your memory  compares to the last test. Some may think it is too easy but the ones with memory problems may have difficulty. Take the test presented here to determine if you're losing it or not.

Friday Editorial: Save the Planet: Shop Walmart

Save the Planet: Shop Walmart is an editorial posted by Walter Russell Mead Posted In: American History, Economic, Global Warming.

Original walmart Shifting my main base of operations from the stately Mead manor in Queens to the rustic Mead hideaway in the rolling hunt country of Duchess County involves a lot of shopping; fortunately for me there is a Walmart just a few miles away.

At the risk of forfeiting any remaining elite cred I may have, let me confess: I love Walmart.  For years, every time I traveled outside New York, I descended on Walmart stores across the country. Everything in those stores is significantly cheaper than in the hoity-toity New York department stores that want me to pay $9 and up for a “designer” undershirt.  For the price of a pair of socks in New York I can get three pairs at the average Walmart.

Friday - In A Silent Way

Hear-see-speak-no-evil1 Readers who get their news from the the mainstream media are remarkably ill informed. Much of what they "know" isn't true and much of what they don't know is important. Take the case of what Byron York calls "the NASA (non) feeding frenzy."

You know the story. The guy whom President Obama has put in charge of NASA reports that he has been tasked by President Obama with missions having nothing to do with space exploration. Perhaps the foremost of these missions is to make the Muslim world feel good about itself.

Total words about the NASA outreach program in the New York Times: 0.

Total words about the NASA outreach program in the Washington Post: 0.

Total words about the NASA outreach program on NBC Nightly News: 0.

Total words about the NASA outreach program on ABC World News: 0.

Total words about the NASA outreach program on CBS Evening News: 0.

When the story doesn't suit the media's purposes, it gets the silent treatment. Most recently, the matter of the New Black Panther Party and J. Christian Adams is a story with a genuine racist component (or two) that has been accorded the silent treatment.  See PowerLine.

Friday Editorial - The Growing Need for Nuclear Energy

Nuclear The energy debates continue to rage inside the beltway. Experts regularly weigh in with conflicting reports on the benefits and pitfalls of oil, coal, wind, and other energy sources. Yet, we already have an energy source so powerful that it is able to meet bulk-energy demands. We have abundant reserves of it, and minimal land is required to support it. Moreover, this energy source meets our needs without emissions of potentially harmful pollutants (like sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides), and particulate matter, and without emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Indeed, we can meet much of America's growing energy needs with a reliable, affordable, low-emission energy source. That source is nuclear energy.
