June 7 - Pet First Aid & Emergency Preparedness

Your pet depends on you for his or her well-being. In addition to providing daily care, love and affection, your best friend depends on you in an emergency. Whether your pet becomes ill or injured, or needs help in a disaster - you need to know what to do. 

What would you do in the event your pet is injured?  What are the signs of distress and what should you look for?  Dr. Steven Hodes of the Hodes Veterinary Group (& Vet for the Morris County K-9 Unit), Route 46, Mine Hill will inform pet owners on what first aid can be done at home, when they should call/visit their vet, or when they should go to an emergency animal hospital for immediate medical care.

 

Many people are not aware of the danger signs from their pet, until it is too late to help.  Now is the time to learn what signs to look for, and what action you should take.

Motorcycle run to benefit the David Gibson Memorial Scholarship

Gibby's run is a LIME DOT motorcycle ride through scenic Northern New Jersey. Live Music, Food, Vendors and Licensed Bar will be available.

PBA Fundraiser on May 17

There will be a PBA Fundraiser Golf Outing at Knoll West.  The registration is a 11:30 am and tee off at 1:00 pm.  Cocktail hour and diner to follow.  Cost is $150.00 per golfer.  Hole and program sponsors available.  Call Gene at for more information 973-257-4114.

The Boat Smart Course on May 21

The Montville Twp. Public library will offer The Boat Smart Course, taught by the Lackawanna Sail & Power Squadron.  The course will be offered for four consecutive nights starting on Monday, May 21.  Classes start promptly at 7 p.m. and run for two hours.  The cost is $65 per person, which includes material.  To register, call Lackawanna Sail & Power Squadron directly at 973-402-2672 or email publiced@lackawanna.org.  Their website is www.lackawanna.org. Montville Pet Parents Sponsor benefit night at The Barn Theatre on May 24

Montville Pet Parents are sponsoring an night at the Barn Theatre on Thursday, May 24 to see "Jeckyl & Hyde, The Musical".  Tickets are $25 each.  All proceeds will go towards the new animal shelter and services at the current one.  Montville Pet Parents meet on the third Tuesday of each month.  New members welcome.  Call 973-335-9561 or email MPPINC@optonline.net for more information.

Morris Canal program on May 14

The Montville Township Historical Society will hold a program on the Morris Canal in Morris County by Joe Macasek, author and V.P. of the Canal Society of NJ on Monday, May 14, 7:30 p.m. at the Montville Twp. Senior House.  Some rarely seen images of the canal from the Montville Twp. Historical Society and Museum collection will also be shown.  Free Admission. May 12 - MORRIS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY’S “RESTORE” TO OPEN

Recycled Building Supplies & Furnishings Available at Bargain Prices - Morris Habitat for Humanity’s “ReStore”, a non-profit retail outlet carrying new and gently used building supplies and furnishings, is scheduled to open to the general public on Saturday, May 12.  Located in Mine Hill, the ReStore is a large facility that stocks a variety of building and home improvement materials, tools, equipment, appliances, and furnishings.  See Daily Record.

The Montville Township Public Library offers computer classes in basic, intermediate and advanced Word, Excel and the Internet, including e-mail and the Web.
