Lazar Middle School students volunteered to assist the VFW in placing flags on veterans' graves

VeterensMontville Township, NJ -- More than a dozen eighth-grade students from Robert R. Lazar Middle School in Montville Township, New Jersey, placed flags on the graves of veterans on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. The volunteers assisted Vietnam veteran, Joe Cull, from Montville VFW Post #5481, in placing the flags on graves at the Montville Reformed Church cemetery on Church Lane.

The event was a solemn one as the students located the sites of the graves and gently placed the flags.

Throughout the activity students were able to ask Cull questions about the military, his service, and the VFW.
