Morris Freeholders Reject Montville for Possible Solar Site

  MorriscountysolarThe Morris County Board of Freeholders approved the construction of 10 solar projects at their meeting on Nov. 9, as a continuation of the county’s 2011 Solar 2 Program. After a review of the economics of 16 potential solar sites across the county, the proposed solar site at the Montville Township Public Library was removed from the county's Solar 2 program. Student Concert Rocked Second Annual Thanksgiving Fundraiser

DavidschoolofrockThe Montville School of Rock, an elite group of highly trained musicians at Montville Township High School, delivered their second annual Thanksgiving benefit concert, ROCK’S GIVING II, on Monday, November 23 at MTHS. The young musicians raised $2,000 for Emma Marie Wyman, a baby girl from Parsippany who was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday. “Emma continues to require medical attention. Every day seems to present a new set of obstacles,” said Danielle Vytell-Mitschele, a teacher at Robert R. Lazar Middle School in Montville, New Jersey. Vytell-Mitschele is a member of the support team known as “Emma’s Angels.” In addition to battling cancer through chemotherapy, Emma has suffered a stroke.

Montville High School Seniors Inducted into National Honor Society

HighschoolhonorsocietyNine Montville Township High School seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society on Nov. 16. The nine students that were inducted include: Stephanie Biase, Anthony Bio, Kristen DiGiacomo, Casey Hojecki, Elizabeth Kroll, Kaitlyn Mangano, Sabrina Puleo, Manisha Ram and Nuha Syed. Millie's House Opens in New Location

MillieshouseMillie Enriquez has been providing Montville day care services out of her house for the past 20 years. Now she can provide the same services at a separate daycare. Millie Enriquez partnered with Kim Wilkisson to open Millie's House in Towaco. Millie's House had its official ribbon cutting ceremony in October. Montville Basketball Athlete Will Play at Manhattan College

Kelly O- Signing 2Kellyanne O'Reilly, a senior basketball player at Montville Township High School signed her National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Manhattan College Jaspers in 2016-17. In the 2014-15 basketball season at Montville Township, O'Reilly averaged 24.2 points per game, making her the third-leading scorer in New Jersey. She also averaged seven rebounds per game. O'Reilly is already the career scoring leader at Montville Township High School with 1,268 points. Montville finished their season with a 13-13 record and Kelly received the Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year Award. Last season, O'Reilly received First- Team All-conference, First-Team All-Morris County, First-Team All- Daily Record, and Second-Team All-Group 3.

Montville Track Athlete Signs Letter of Intent for Rutgers

Leah Wis-Leah Wis, a senior Track and Field Athlete at Montville Township High School signed her National Letter of Intent to participate in Track and Field for the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights in 2016-17. During her 2014-15 winter track season at Montville Township, Wis became the Morris County High Jump Champion, as well as the Group 3 Discus Champion. Leah currently holds Montville Township High School's records in the discus, high hurdles, and high jump. During the Spring Track season, Leah qualified for the Meet of Champions to compete in High Jump, Discus, and Javelin, where she placed fifth in the high jump, and eighth in the discus. In the Spring 2015 season, Wis received First-Team All-conference, First-Team All County, First-Team All- Daily Record, Third-Team All State, and Second-Team All Group 3.

Montville High School Swim Athlete Signs Letter of Intent

Bryana Cielo- Total 2Bryana Cielo, a senior Swim Athlete at Montville Township High School signed her National Letter of Intent to swim for the Sacred Heart University Pioneers in 2016-17. Cielo is a four-year varsity letter winnter at Montville Township High School. In the 2014-15 swim season, she excelled in the butterfly stroke and the backstroke. Bryana's fastest times are 59.61 seconds in the 100 Yard Butterfly stroke and 2:12.55 in the 200 yard Backstroke. She was awarded Second-Team All-Conference during the 2014-15 season. Cielo returns for her senior season as Captain of the Montville Mustang swim Team. Sacred Heart University is a NCAA Division 1 affiliation and they participate in the Northeast Athletic Conference. Bryana is planning to study Media Arts next fall.
