San Gennaro Festival/Carnival is Coming!

Montville UNICO Foundation is presenting it’s annual cultural celebration to the local area, SAN GENNARO FESTIVAL/CARNAVAL on September 5-8th at 90 Horseneck Road, Montville, NJ Montville Unico 07045. The original festival was started by Italian immigrants from Naples, Italy wishing to honor their patron saint, St. Gennaro. Continuing the tradition, Montville UNICO will celebrate Italian culture and food with 4 days of rides, games, food, live entertainment, and more. Festivities will begin Thursday, Sept. 5th, at 6pm-10pm, Friday 6pm-11pm, Saturday 12 noon-11pm, and Sunday 12 noon-6pm. Parking is available on site.  This is a family event with the proceeds going to continue our over 20 year funding of educational grants, community services, disease research, aiding the disabled, holiday donations of food, gifts and clothing, and much more. Montville UNICO Received the Prestigious "Model Chapter of the Year 2012-2013" Award

Lauderdale, Fl, our local chapter, Montville UNICO, received the prestigious award "Model Chapter of the Year 2012-2013". Accepting the plaque is past chapter president Michele Maddalena.

Men Leave Cash For Goods After Wayne Store is Left Open Overnight

What's the polar opposite of a smash and grab? Surveillance video from a recently-opened store on Buddys small lots Route 23 is making the rounds after a group of young men entered after closing time, taking a number of goods before — well, paying for them and leaving quietly.Turns out a malfunctioning door lock left Buddy's Small Lots open after closing time Sunday night, and News 12 reports that management got the call from police that there'd been a break-in. Montville Township Residents Air Their Concerns to County Officials

Montville townshipThe Montville Township Committee met with Morris County officials before the regular public meeting of the Morris County Freeholders that was held at the Montville Township Municipal Building on Wednesday, Aug. 14. This prior meeting was designed to discuss issues that were specific to Montville Township. James Sandham addressed Stephen Hammond, Morris County engineer and director of public works, as to the county’s road improvement plans especially for the intersection of Route 202 and Changebridge Road. Sandham also asked if the county has long-term plans for road improvements in general, saying that it would be beneficial to coordinate planning so township and county road work would be more efficient. Continue reading northjersey.com

Web Series Being Filmed at the Barn Theatre

A Brooklyn production company is shooting a new web series at the Barn Theatre with hopes of Barnminilogo attracting online viewers looking for some laughs and a behind-the-scenes look at how plays are produced. Coming soon to a computer or video-streaming device near you: “Ghost Light” is an eight-episode series about a motley crew of backstage technicians working in a community theater in Middle America. Montville’s Caitlyn Kohler and Little Miss Lollipop Showed at The Sussex County Horse Show

Sussex county horse showCaitlyn Kohler, 9, of Montville, and her pony mare, Little Miss Lollipop, showed at the Sussex County Horse Show, held Aug. 2-11.  Kohler showed on Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Short Stirrup Under 10 Equitation and Hunter divisions. Altogether, she showed in nine classes, both on the flat and over fences, coached by her trainer Courtney Brennan of Bleecker Street Stables, in Montville. She rode very competitively in her equitation flat classes, pinning third in both. Continue reading northjersey.com

Towaco Resident Interns at Capital Hill

Tyler Rivera, of Towaco and a senior at the University of Delaware, has completed a month-long Capitol hill internship with Representative Rodney Frelinghuysen of New Jersey’s 11th District. Rivera had a variety of responsibilities as an intern, such as answering phone calls from constituents, sitting in on meetings with staff and providing tours of the Capitol. Rivera also took notes and drafted memos on committee hearings, briefings, investigations, and lectures he attended. Rivera also assisted with research and summaries of various pieces of legislation.
