Betty Lou DeCroce wins 26th District Seat Held by Late Husband

BettyLou DeCroce bested Larry Casha, 120-67, at a special convention Wednesday night, where GOPBetty Lou DeCroce county committee delegates chose her to fill the state Assembly seat left vacant by her husband’s death.

“Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart,” said DeCroce, 59, after the delegates gave her a standing ovation. “We will continue the Republican policies with our governor.”  Continue reading  Daily Record.

Auditor Sees Improvements in School Biz Office

Montville high schoolTownship school board members said they were pleased with the findings of an annual audit that made several housekeeping recommendations but did not find any major problems with the district's finances.

Consultant Coming for Police Review

A Palo Alto, Calif.-based consulting company is scheduled to visit the Montville Township PoliceMontville police department Department starting next week to look for "opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency" of the department, officials said.

Matrix Consulting Group was awarded a $35,000 contract to perform the study, which includes extensive interviews of township and police management and staff, and an analysis of the department's budget, policies, calls and workload.  Continue reading Patch.

Montville Township Committee Makes Presentations

Montville township logoAt the Jan. 2 reorganization meeting, the Montville Township Committee presented plaques to board and commission members who have served the township and now are retiring from their positions. Mayor Tim Braden expressed that it is such volunteers that help make Montville a great place to live.

"The Committee set out to revitalize our community," Braden said. With 185 volunteer positions in government and another twelve applicants, the Committee is fulfilling its goal.  Continue reading NorthJersey.com.

Montville's Last Hope to Stop the Building of 200, 500 Kilo-Volt Power Line Towers in Montville is NOW!

If you are not aware already, Montville’s last hope to stop the building of 200’, 500 kilo-volt powerHigh tension wires line towers through 7 miles of Montville is NOW.  The current lines stand 95’ and run at 230 kilo-volts, half the height and strength of the proposed towers.  Until January 31, the National Park Service (NPS) is taking comments before it makes its final recommendation about whether or not to let that power distribution chain come from Pennsylvania to NJ through national park land.

Towaco Fire District’s Budget and Resolution for 2012 get the Go-Ahead

Towaco fire dept.The NJ Department of Community Affairs approved the Towaco Fire District’s 2012 budget of $664,820, and the Towaco Board of Fire Commissioners adopted the budget resolution on Wednesday, Dec. 21, after a public hearing.

In an effort to be transparent, the budget meeting was well publicized and posted on the Towaco Fire Department’s roadside communications board. The budget also was posted online. No one from the public came forward to speak at the open session.

Township Committee Reorganizes for 2012

Montville to Revisit 2 Appointments

The Township Committee will revisit two of Montville's professional services agreements after 90Montville municipa bldg. days because they deal with ongoing issues of concern for the governing body and some committee members said the town's new chief financial officer should have a chance to offer her input on the appointments.

The Township Committee approved by a 3-2 vote 90-day agreements with bond counsel McManimon & Scotland LLC and with Water & Sewer Department consulting engineer Anderson & Denzler Associates. Both businesses provided services to the town last year.  Continue reading Patch.
