Lack of Candidates Leads to CFO Salary Bump

Montville twnshp municipal bldgThe  Township Committee at its Tuesday meeting unanimously approved an ordinance setting the  2012 salary for the town's new chief financial officer at $98,500.

The salary is an approximately 16 percent increase from the top of  a previous salary range set in 2010. The position never was filled at the range of $65,000 to $85,000.  Continue reading Patch.

More Funds Found for Montville Township Schools

Montville high schoolThe Christie Administration announced recently that an additional $8.2 million in federal funds for school districts across the state to support children’s education has been made available. This additional funding comes from a new federal allocation as well as from state-level efficiencies in administering the Ed Jobs funding program.

"In these economic times, we are doing everything we can to make sure schools have the resources they need to be successful," said Chris Cerf, acting commissioner of education. "Through smart planning and efficient administration, we are excited to be able to free up additional funds to send directly to districts to pay for human capital costs."  Continue reading NorthJersey.com.

Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry Opens Additional Drop-Off Sites for Donations

Food pantryThe Montville Kiwanis Club’s  Food Pantry, is located at the United Methodist Church on Whitehall Road (Route 202) next to the Towaco Fire House.

The food pantry is adding two new additional satellite drop off locations, in addition to the Montville Executive Suites located at 330 Changebridge Road, Suite 101 in  Pine Brook (973) 575-6080. This location  is open Monday through Friday for donations from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30p.m.

Montville Towwnship Ordinance Causes Changes in Land Use and Some Controversy

The Montville Township Committee passed an ordinance that streamlines and simplifies land-use and development regulations for homeowners and businesses by a 4-1 vote on Tuesday, Nov. 22. These regulations have not been changed in 25 years, and the changes caused some controversy.

Resident Dennis O’Brien had concerns about how the new ordinance would affect Lake Valhalla. It recognizes the club and grandfathers its existence. The club is no longer in a preexisting, nonconforming use in a residential zone, but it is in a new Lake Recreation District. O’Brien wanted to know how this affected membership and future development. The ordinance basically restricts the development to preexisting conditions.  Continue reading NorthJersey.com.
