Committee Awards $552K Contract for Animal Shelter

The Township Committee unanimously awarded a $552,000 contract to Passaic-based ML Inc. forMontville Animal Shelter the construction of a new animal shelter on Church Lane at its Tuesday night meeting.

Township Administrator Frank Bastone has said the four other towns that use the Montville Animal Shelter — Lincoln Park, Mountain Lakes, Boonton Township and Morristown—are contributing a total of about $100,000 toward the construction costs, he said.  Continue reading Patch.

Bayer to move from Montville to Alcatel-Lucent property in Hanover

Bayer pharmaceuticalsBayer Healthcare LLC will be moving into the long vacant Alcatel-Lucent property on Whippany Road, bringing 2,500 employees and plans to refurbish a main building on the site while adding additional structures and employees in the future, township officials announced Thursday.

“We’ve worked real hard and are blessed to have a major international pharmaceutical company coming into our township,” said Mayor John T. Sheridan. “It will not only boost the Hanover Township economy, but it will be a boost to the whole region.” Continue reading Daily Record.

Obama Pushes For High-Voltage Line To Be Built

High tension wires The Obama administration announced Wednesday its support for fast-tracking the Susquehanna-Roseland project—a plan to build high-voltage power lines on towers running from Warren County through Sussex and Morris Counties.

The proposal—which has drawn criticism from environmental groups as well as several of the affected towns—would include a 145-mile long 500 kV transmission line from the Susquehanna Substation in Pennsylvania to the Roseland Substation in New Jersey, and several 500-230 kV substations in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  Continue reading Patch.
