Enough is Enough! Montville Deserves a Fourth Choice    LettersToTheEditor1

I am personally sick and tired of all the misleading and negative campaign material put out by the Daughtry and Sandham campaign.  I believe it’s an embarrassment to our community and to members of the Republican Party.  I was supporting Jim up until this past weekend.  The straw that broke the camel’s back for me is when I learned that a piece of campaign material that to me was misleading and negative was mailed to many of the households in Montville using an unauthorized image of my home; a picture that I believe could only have been taken by trespassing at least 700 feet onto my property.  I see this as an invasion of my home and privacy.  Both candidates and most of their campaign team have been to my home many many times, so they should be well aware of that the fact that the picture they used could not have been taken from public property and was not obtained with my permission.  I have already reported this trespassing to the Montville police.  I plan to hold those involved accountable.

Board leaders stay; high school changes

Montville high school With just one exception, the newly reorganized Montville Board of Education is a mirror image of its  former self.

With three open seats and three candidates, the Board election was an uncontested race. Former Board member Paul Przetak, who chose not to seek re-election, was replaced by Frank Cooney on the nine-member Board. Cooney garnered 1,923 votes while Dr. Matthew Kayne and Michael Palma were re-elected with 1,881 votes and 1,950 votes respectively. Former Judge Davenport Admits Serving as Mayor's Lawyer, Denies Ethics Breach

Article in the  "New Jersey Law Journal,"  May 3, 2011 - by David Gialanella Scales of justice

Responding to ethics charges that he represented Montville's mayor while serving as the town's judge, Seth Davenport admits to providing "some limited services" but denies knowingly breaching court rules or judicial canons.

In an answer filed Monday, May 2, 2011, Davenport says that when he signed a 2006 certification stating that once he became a judge, he ceased providing legal services for Mayor John Rosellini Jr., he "held a reasonable and good-faith belief."

Township roots for trees

Montville Township celebrated its seventh annual Arbor Day on Friday, April 29, at the MunicipalTownship Roots for Trees  Building. Committee Member Deb Nielson was honored for her environmental contributions to Montville through her formation of the Montville Sustainability Committee and her work with the Montville Township Environmental Commission. The Sustainability Committee fosters the development of policies that integrate environmental, economic, and social values in decision making.

Emily DeFazio, a third grader from Valley View Elementary School, was the winner of the Arbor Day poster contest. Third graders Lillian Wu and Nina Chirico from Hillside Elementary School tied for second runner-up honors. The theme for the posters was "Trees in Montville are Beautiful."  Continue reading NorthJersey.com.

Letters About Literature

Emma Fleisig The sixth-grade Green Team Literature students from Kristen Spagnuolo's class at Robert R. Lazar Middle School participated in a Letters About Literature contest. Students were asked to write a letter to an author who wrote a story, poem, or essay which influenced them or had an impact on their lives in some way. Emma Fleisig, shown here with her teacher, wrote a letter to Samuel R. Harris, author of "Sammy: Child Survivor of the Holocaust." Emma won Honorable Mention for her letter and will be recognized at a reception in May.
