MONTVILLE'S ROCKLINE DONATES 46,000 PACKAGES OF WET WIPES TO HAITIAN RELIEF EFFORTS
Rockline Industries, North America’s largest manufacturer of private brand wet wipes and coffee filters - with a manucturing facility in Montville - announced that it donated nearly 46,000 packages of wet wipes to Haitian earthquake disaster relief efforts.
“The earthquake has left a lot of people without running water for cleaning and bathing,” said Ron Kerscher, Rockline’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “These wipes will help communities recover by promoting cleanliness until running water can be restored.” “Rockline understands the importance of people and community, and we are grateful to be able to give some assistance,” he added.
The donation, valued at over $77,000, contains a variety of different body and baby wipes and was shipped from Rockline’s manufacturing facility in Booneville, Ark., on Feb. 5. The international aid organization Feed The Children, which guarantees the donated products will be used in relief efforts, is handling transportation to Haiti.
“We are so thankful to Rockline Industries for their donation to Feed The Children,” said Feed The Children spokesman Tony Sellars. “There are so many struggling families in Haiti and their donation will go a long way in helping those in need.”
Founded in 1979, Feed The Children is one of the 10 largest international charities in the United States, and has a four-star rating from the website CharityNavigator.org. In 2008, they distributed more than 133 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and their families in all 50 states and internationally. They have been active in Haiti since 1981.
Rockline chose to work with Feed The Children because they were one of the few aid organizations that would guarantee the donation arrived and was put to use in the affected area. This contribution follows other humanitarian donations of wet wipes that Rockline has made in recent years. The company made contributions in the aftermath of the Indian Ocean tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Rockline has also offered to sell wet wipes at manufacturing cost to organizations looking to make their own humanitarian donations to disaster relief efforts.
