Farmers abused - Savings gone with stroke of pen

Moo I am not a developer, I am a farmer. My farmland is my safety net. The Highlands Act has left me hanging and one day, if I have to let go, I have nowhere to land. I'm finished.

Still, environmentalists tell me to just move on and forget about the loss of lifetime savings in my land, which should never have been in the Preservation Area, because no scientific study put it there. The environmentalists want me to farm as usual, following unrealistic restrictions, and do so until I drop dead.  See Daily Record.

Support Montville's own Joe Pennacchio

Joep I am writing to ask you to join me in supporting Joe Pennacchio for US Senate in 2008.  Joe is dedicated to providing both the type of efficient effective government that we need representing us in Washington, D.C., and the type of leadership that we need to help to revitalize the Republican Party in New Jersey.

Joe has just won the Hunterdon County Republican Convention, giving him the key endorsement of The Hunterdon Republican Committee for the primary.  This brings Joe one step closer to victory for the primary election.  The next convention will be held this Saturday in Union County.  Additional immediate financial contributions are crucial to the grass-roots work necessary for success in this upcoming primary.

We can't let our elections be bought by self funded candidates.  Let's show the state of NJ that the Republican party is alive and well and that we're not afraid of the hard work it takes to get the right candidate elected.  The candidate who can beat Frank Lautenberg in the general election and not the one with the most money!

So I ask you to please consider making a donation no matter how small to Joe Pennacchio for US Senate.  You can go to Joe’s web site at www.jerseyjoe08.com and click on the icon that says DONATE ONLINE.  Or if you'd like you can mail a check to:

It is time for Frank Lautenberg to retire, but it will take both money and grass roots support for Joe to be successful.

  Joe Pennacchio for US Senate

Sincerely,

Lisa LoBiondo

Seven things that Jon Corzine won't cut

Mulshine During his budget address today, Gov. Jon Corzine will do a lot of poor-mouthing, if I may employ an expression I heard often from my old Irish mother, God rest her soul. Poor-mouthing is the art of pretending poverty in one area while spending like crazy in other areas. You go to the neighbor and borrow some money because the baby needs formula. Then you head to the pub and get sloshed. That's poor-mouthing.

Corzine is going to get up there and tell us that the state is broke because of excessive borrowing without voter approval and because of the need to pay for the future retirement costs of public employees.   See Star Ledger.

Cold water on global warming

Globalwarmingswindle It has almost become something of a joke when some "global warminAlgorefireg"  conference has to be cancelled because of a snowstorm or bitterly cold weather. But stampedes and hysteria are no joke -- and creating stampedes and hysteria has become a major activity of those hyping a global warming "crisis."

They mobilize like-minded people from a variety of occupations, call them all "scientists" and then claim that "all" the experts agree on a global warming crisis.

But a new and very different conference on global warming will be held in New York City, under the sponsorship of the Heartland Institute, on March 2nd to March 4th -- weather permitting.

USS New York christened

Ussny Thousands of people, including families of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks, gathered Saturday for an at-times chilling and rallying service to christen a Navy ship built with twisted steel from the ruins of the World Trade Center.

The hulking grey USS New York, which abruptly rose from the horizon, bore a seal on the bow bearing 7.5 tons of steel from the site. The shield included two gray bars to symoblize the Twin Towers; a banner over that declared "Never Forget."  See New York Sun.

Video of February 26 Township Committee Meeting

Video Courtesy of Rob Lefkowitz:

The 02/26/08 TC meeting has been uploaded.  The link is http://blip.tv/file/702718/Last week's meeting was viewed over 45 times, so at least there is some interest.

The meeting began with a discussion of the budget.  Unfortunately, the meeting was not conducted on the dais, so the participants were not really audible on the video that I took.  I, therefore, didn't post that part of the meeting.  I will be attempting to get a copy of the budget for your readers if I can find the time.         Discuss on OurMontville.com blog.
