No Lowes at junkyard

Committee says no to big-box; owner still trying - Thursday, November 29, 2007 Lowes

MONTVILLE -- The township committee voted 4-1 Tuesday night to allow construction of age-restricted housing, retail and residential mixed use -- but no big-box stores -- at the Pine Brook junkyard site.

But landowner Rene Avila still wants to build a 217,000-square-foot Lowe's home-improvement store there anyway. The site is across Route 46 from an existing Home Depot.

Committeeman Steve Moscone voted against the revised ordinance authorizing new uses of the land.  See Daily Record.  Discuss on OurMontville blog.  See Montville could get trapped in a box.
