GI Auto - Big Box Retail Rejected

MONTVILLE -- The township's planner has presented a draft ordinance to the township committee that, if   approved, will permit the construction of retail, age-restricted housing and residential mixed-use at the G.I. Auto Salvage site in Pine Brook.  See "Homes Best Bet".

According to the ordinance, the new zone would permit assorted retail stores and shops; age-restricted housing; self-storage facilities, and hotel, retail and residential mixed-use. Big box retail development was specifically excluded from the zone by a vote of the Township Committee.  See Daily Record and discuss on OurMontville blog.

The township committee in Montville voted 4-0 on Tuesday to introduce an ordinance next month that will permit age-restricted housing and residential mixed-use at the G.I. Auto Salvage site in Pine Brook. A story Thursday incorrectly reported another type of development could have been allowed at the site.
